Sports Report - Year 9 Boys Rugby

The Year 9 boys Rugby team have started their season with two impressive wins away at Both BCA and King Alfred's.

 

In the first game against BCA they ran in 13 trys as they showed that they had pace and power throughout the whole team. Ashley Higgins (6), Oli Manchip (4), Alfie Hodge (2) and Phil Gogolin were the try scorers. In a fine team performance Will Stevens, Lewis Randle, Ben Bradley, Alex Palmer and Phil Gogolin showed massive improvements as the Chilton ran out 73-12 winners. BCA showed terrific fight and never gave up throughout.

The game against KAS was going to be a real test as games between the 2 teams had always been close encounters. The boys made the perfect start as Ashley Higgins ran onto Oli Manchip's kick off and set up a ruck, the ball was moved wide where Oli Manchip scored in the corner. The first half was dominated by Chilton who ran in four further trys from Oli Manchip (2), Ashley Higgins and Lewis Randle on the wing. The second half proved a more even contest as the wind favoured KAS and they began to control the ball better. Chilton still looked dangerous with ball in hand and further trys from Ashley Higgins and Lewis Randle extended Chilton's lead. KAS never gave up and scored two late trys as their pressure got rewarded. In another fine team performance Zak Scott, Dan McLuckie, Alfie Hodge and Leighton Redwood caught the eye with their efforts as the final score was 43-10 in Chilton's favour.
